History

The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology separated from the Department of Mathematics in the year 2547 B.E. (2004). Currently, the department offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in the fields of Computer Science and Information Technology.

The Department of Mathematics was established in 1994, marking the beginning of its academic journey. In 2001, it launched the Bachelor of Science program in Computer Science, followed by the Master of Science program in Information Technology and Computer Science in 2002. The department expanded its offerings in 2003 with the introduction of the Bachelor of Science program in Information Systems.
A significant development occurred in 2004 when the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) was formed as a separate entity from the Department of Mathematics. In the same year, a parallel program in Information Technology Law was initiated but later discontinued. 2005 witnessed the introduction of the Bachelor of Science program in Information Technology. In 2007, the department reintroduced the Bachelor of Science program in Computer Science, alongside the Bachelor of Science program in Educational Studies, which was eventually phased out. The academic landscape continued to evolve with the initiation of the Doctor of Philosophy program in Computer Science in 2009 and the Doctor of Philosophy program in Information Technology in 2012.
